Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 (16 ounce) package dried navy beans
  • 1 (14.5 ounce)  can diced tomatoes
  • ½ pound chopped ham
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Collect all the necessary ingredients.
  • In a large stock pot, mix together water, beans, tomatoes, ham, onion, celery, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, bouillon, parsley, garlic powder, and bay leaf. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat, cover, and let it simmer for two hours, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  • Add 3 cups of water to the pot, then stir in the salt and pepper. Continue simmering for another two hours to enhance the flavors. Before serving, be sure to remove and discard the bay leaf.
