Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce)  can evaporated milk
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 ¼ cups water, or as needed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, cubed
  • 1 (6 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained

Instructions
 

  • Collect all the ingredients.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in the evaporated milk, condensed soup, and water. Add the chopped onion, salt, and pepper, then bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Add the chicken and simmer until fully cooked, about 15 minutes.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms and simmer, stirring frequently, for an additional 5 minutes.
